Vollet looks to further engage the community around St. Paul’s and support plans for the redevelopment of the hospital

VANCOUVER, BC, SEPTEMBER 5, 2012 – St. Paul’s Foundation is pleased to announce that Dick Vollet has joined the organization as its new president & CEO.

“Dick comes to the Foundation at an important time, following the provincial government’s firm commitment to move forward on the redevelopment of St. Paul’s,” says David Poole, Chair of the Board of Directors of St. Paul’s Foundation. “Dick’s extensive experience in the not-for-profit and corporate sectors will be a tremendous asset as the hospital prepares to serve the province for many decades to come from the heart of downtown Vancouver.”

Vollet has more than 20 years of experience in a variety of executive roles. He has held senior positions within the private sector and played a part in executing the 2010 Winter Games as Vice President of Mountain Operations for VANOC. Vollet most recently held the position of president & CEO of StreetoHome Foundation.

“As a lifelong resident of Vancouver, I have seen the profound impact that St. Paul’s’s commitment to compassion, social justice, exceptional care and innovation has had on the people of this city and province,” says Vollet. “I look forward to collaborating with the community, Providence Health Care and our physicians, staff and researchers to support St. Paul’s current and future needs.”

On June 13, 2012, Premier Christy Clark announced the provincial government’s support for the next stage of the renewal for St. Paul’s. Providence Health Care (PHC), which operates St. Paul’s, the Ministry of Health and Vancouver Coastal Health are jointly moving ahead with the renewal planning process. The renewal will revitalize and enable the upgraded hospital to provide the latest and best care to more people and in a quicker and more cost-effective manner.

“St. Paul’s Foundation and its donors play an integral role in supporting the world-leading care, research and teaching at St. Paul’s, which benefits patients across the province,” said Dianne Doyle, president and CEO of PHC. “Dick’s strong reputation, his people-centered values and his commitment to improving our communities is a perfect fit for the Providence family, and the patients and residents we serve. We are grateful for the St. Paul’s Foundation’s continuing support and look forward to working alongside Dick as we continue to build momentum for the renewal of St. Paul’s.”
