Tonight we celebrate St. Paul’s fundraising initiative, Strike Out Heart Disease, with “Night at the Nat.” This is a great evening and a wonderful way to cap off the success of the fifth annual Strike Out Heart Disease campaign to support the provincial Heart Centre at St. Paul’s, the provincial referral centre for BC’s most complex cardiac cases.
WHEN: Thursday, August 18, 2016 at 7:00pm
WHERE: Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium, 4601 Ontario St., Vancouver
Night at the Nat is also a celebration of a great partnership between St. Paul’s Foundation and the Vancouver Canadians Baseball Club—and a special shout-out, as well, to our Night at the Nat sponsor, Scotiabank.
The proceeds from the 2016 edition of Strike Out Heart Disease will go toward critical upgrades to the St. Paul’s Electrophysiology Lab. The EP Lab at St. Paul’s treats patients with heart rhythm disorders.
One of the procedures performed at the EP Lab is called a catheter ablation, which sees a thin tube threaded through a blood vessel to the heart, where radio frequency energy waves are used to remove small areas of heart tissue that may be causing an irregular heartbeat.
We’re proud to support the world-class surgical teams that perform such complex procedures. Strike Out Heart Disease funds will ensure they have the newest surgical tools and equipment, including, this year, the purchase of a new cardiac imaging ultrasound.
Thank you to everyone for cheering on the Vancouver Canadians with us—and thank you for supporting the provincial Heart Centre at St Paul’s!
