St. Paul’s announced today that it has completed the installation of a 10-inch by 27-foot sign that celebrates the naming of the Teck Emergency Centre.
The sign, located outside the ambulance bay on Burrard Street, recognizes a $2.5 million donation made by Teck Resources to complete the funding of the hospital’s renovated and redesigned emergency area. The gift, which was announced on October 27, 2010, is the largest corporate and capital donation ever received by St. Paul’s.
Teck donates $2.5 million to complete funding for redesign of efficient and innovative emergency area at St. Paul’s Hospital
St. Paul’s Foundation today announced that Teck Resources Limited donated $2.5 million to St. Paul’s to complete the remaining funding for its recently renovated and redesigned emergency area. In recognition of Teck’s major gift, the area will be named the Teck Emergency Centre. Furthermore, a fund to support research, academic productivity and the development of best practices at the hospital will be called the Teck Emergency Centre Innovation Fund.
St. Paul’s in Vancouver now has one of the most efficient and technologically advanced emergency departments in the country with the completion of a $14.7-million multi-phase emergency department redesign and renovation project, announced Health Services Minister Kevin Falcon.
TB Vets Charitable Foundation has provided $25,000 to assist with the purchase of a ventilator for St. Paul’s’s Intensive Care Unit.
“This equipment is vital as the hospital has recently opened an additional four beds in our busy Intensive Care Unit (ICU),” said Jane Adams, executive director of St. Paul’s Foundation. “We are very grateful for this generous gift and for the longstanding support we have received from TB Vets over the years.”
