Last Friday, Providence Health Care hosted its first PHC Awards Night. This annual gala has traditionally been dedicated to those staff, medical staff and volunteers celebrating 25+ year long service milestones. This year, the addition of some of Providence’s most prestigious awards – the Research and Mission Award, the “Best” Patient Safety and Quality Award, the Mission Awards (individual and team), the Faye Meuser Memorial Leadership Award and the Keeping the Promise Award, as well as the Volunteer Resources Scholarships celebrating exceptional volunteers – created an opportunity to share the stories of incredible people who best demonstrate the Mission, Vision and Values of PHC with long serving staff.
The Research and Mission Award recognizes a scientist in the organization who demonstrates the mission and values of Providence Health Care while conducting outstanding research.
Dr. Karin Humphries, Scientific Director at the BC Centre for Improved Cardiovascular Health, Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the UBC, and UBC-Heart and Stroke Foundation Professor in Women’s Cardiovascular Health, is this year’s recipient.
