Lights of Hope, St. Paul’s Foundation’s beloved holiday tradition and annual fundraising campaign, has raised more than $3.5 million this holiday season. The generous donations from corporate and individual donors, Providence Health Care staff, and volunteers will fund the greatest needs of patients, residents, caregivers, and families.

“This year, more than ever, it is so heartwarming to see the community come together to support each other and inspire hope,” says Dick Vollet, President and CEO, St. Paul’s Foundation. “We are incredibly grateful to our community for their generous donations, which support our frontline health care workers to provide compassionate care at all of our hospitals and long-term care homes.”

Since 1998, Lights of Hope has raised more than $43.5 million, funding urgently needed equipment, life-saving research, community programs, medical teaching initiatives, and other essential patient and resident services that would otherwise not be funded through traditional channels. Funds raised through this year’s Lights of Hope campaign will support all Providence Health Care sites, and will have an impact on every patient, resident, visitor, and department.

This year, St. Paul’s Foundation reimagined the much-loved annual fundraiser to celebrate hope together, while safely apart, with Hope at Home. Inspired by the 7pm nightly cheer for frontline workers, St. Paul’s Foundation introduced Hope at Home holiday lanterns, which were purchased and proudly displayed in homes across BC to show support for our health care heroes.

The Lights of Hope display at St. Paul’s Hospital has inspired hope and donations for 23 years. Built by volunteers, and made of donated materials, it features 4,000 feet of lights, 400 stars, and digital projection. For 2020, St. Paul’s Foundation livestreamed the display all season long, so community members could enjoy it from the comfort of home.
