Where there is light,
there is hope.

About Lights of Hope

Lights of Hope is one of our most visible and important fundraising campaigns. Since 1998, your gifts to Lights of Hope have raised more than $47 million! Last year, donors gave $3.6 million, funded 96 urgently-needed hospital and long-term care programs, and supported 7,000 health care heroes across Providence Health Care.

Your gift makes a difference. Here’s how you can support Lights of Hope.

Experience Lights of Hope

Each holiday season, Lights of Hope transforms the façade of St. Paul’s Hospital into a beacon of hope and joy.

Join thousands of festive British Columbians on Thursday, November 17 for the 2022 Lights of Hope Community Celebration at St. Paul’s Hospital in downtown Vancouver!

Be there by 6:00 pm to see the fabulous display light up for the first time in 2022! This is a free, family-friendly event!

Since 1998, St. Paul’s Foundation has illuminated Burrard Street with a breathtaking display of lights in support of Lights of Hope. When you support Lights of Hope with a donation, you help meet the greatest needs of patients, residents, and families across BC.

We also host Lights of Hope displays at Mount Saint Joseph Hospital, Holy Family Hospital, and our long-term care homes in Vancouver and in Comox.

Want to see your name, or your company’s name, in lights? Get a star on the display! Call 236-326-5767 or email pmcloughlin@providencehealth.bc.ca.

Why Give to Lights of Hope?

Your donations make it possible to save lives… to provide warm clothing to patients in need… to fund research initiatives that change the way we diagnose and treat disease… and to transform health care with the new St. Paul’s Hospital and BC’s first publicly-funded dementia care village.

Stories of Hope

When you give to Lights of Hope, you help families at their most vulnerable. And you give caregivers the tools and equipment they need to make our patients, residents, and families more comfortable.

Hazel and her partner Joey arrived at St. Paul’s Hospital relaxed and excited. It was Father’s Day morning and their second son, now 11 days overdue, was on his way.

When she heard the Code Pink over the intercom, she thought, “That can’t be for me.” But it was. And her ordeal was just getting started.

Irma and David Oliver had long wanted to visit Canada’s far north. But Irma’s failing health and frequent blood transfusions forced the couple to stay close to their home in Abbotsford.

Then a miracle happened. A miracle the size of your little finger. And a year later, Irma and David made the 8,000 km odyssey to the edge of the continent: their feet in the Arctic Ocean, their arms around each other, their dream in their hands. It would never have happened without St. Paul’s Hospital.

Jamie Waterlow and his family.

“When they wheeled him into the operating room, we didn’t know if we’d ever see him again.”

Jamie was a healthy, active college student. On a wilderness hike, he sprained his knee. Days later, he was on a ventilator in an induced coma on the precipice between life and death.
