Al and Leona have been loyal donors to St. Paul’s Foundation since 2019. St. Paul’s Hospital has been their go-to place for treatment over the years. Together they’ve experienced multiple facets of the busy hospital and its distinctive location, as well as other Providence sites like St. John’s Hospice.
Each visit to St. Paul’s they were blown away by the care of the staff. “We’ve had lots of positive experiences,” says Al. “The staff are always treating the patients with compassion.”
There’s something special about Providence Health Care, Leona remarks. Having worked with other health care authorities in her career, she notes it’s the values.
A memorable experience included a trip to the emergency department, where they were impressed with how doctors and staff handled themselves in one of the busiest ED’s in BC. “It’s still always with compassion, despite some of the situations they have to deal with,” says Al.
Knowing their gift makes a difference is important to them. A highlight was when a physician personally thanked them for their support. “We just thought, what an environment, where you guys (at the Foundation) are working so closely with the medical community that exists so that they're aware of who is making contributions. We were just shocked that he would even know that we had contributed.”
Why do they give monthly? “We know it’s tremendously helpful to have that knowledge that funding will be coming in throughout the year,” says Leona. “You can daily see the impact,” she notes, living nearby St. Paul’s.
Both Al and Leona are enthusiastic about the new hospital and the campus developing around it. “It is so exciting to see what's coming there,” says Leona. “It just shows how the organization fosters innovation and improvements to healthcare.”
“Great history, great future. That’s what we see,” says Al, “looking at the hospital and the doctors and staff. It’s just a great organization that gives top service.”
Deepen your impact as a monthly supporter and help ensure we bring the very best in care to our patients, residents, and families all across BC.
