As the new St. Paul's Hospital on the Jim Pattison Medical Campus prepares to open in 2027, donors are coming together to build the future of health care in BC. Among them are supporters like Tony Ma, Founder and President of Vancouver Bullion & Currency Exchange (VBCE), whose generous $1 million gift will help more patients and families heal better for generations to come.
Tony views health as one of life's most important assets and believes strongly in supporting public health care so everyone in the community can receive the care they need.
The Jim Pattison Medical Campus, home to the new St. Paul's Hospital and Clinical Support and Research Centre, will be the most advanced and comprehensive medical campus in Western Canada. Designed to improve access, privacy, comfort, safety, and healing, it will create a better experience for patients and families while accelerating discoveries that improve treatment and save lives.
Whether it's a medical emergency or a complex health condition, this is where people will turn for some of the province's most specialized care, delivered in an environment built for innovation.
Tony is excited about the new hospital's extraordinary spaces, specialized programs, research, and innovative models of care.
"With the population growing in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, we need a hospital like this," he says. "It's bigger, it's brighter, and everything's new. People will love it."
He's particularly looking forward to the state-of-the-art medical imaging technology that will be available. The current St. Paul’s Hospital performs about 200,000 procedures every year. At the new campus, those volumes are anticipated to grow.
"Diagnostics is the first line of defense. If you're diagnosed earlier, you can get treated earlier," he says.
The new St. Paul’s Hospital will feature a fully modernized imaging department, bringing almost all imaging equipment to 'new or nearly new' status. Most diagnostic medical imaging services will be consolidated on the hospital's second floor, including Computed Tomography (CT), General Radiography (X-ray), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Nuclear Medicine, Bone Density, and general Ultrasound, improving access and coordination of care.
Give today and double your impact
To inspire others to join him in supporting the new campus, Tony and VBCE are matching donations to the new St. Paul's Hospital through a $1 million gift, helping every dollar go twice as far.
"Giving to St. Paul's Hospital will make a big impact on our society," he says. "It doesn't have to be a big amount. The gift that you give today is not for yourself, it's for the generations to come.”
St. Paul’s Foundation is deeply grateful to Tony Ma and VBCE for their support.
Double your donation and help open the doors to the new St. Paul’s Hospital.
