The new Jim Pattison Medical Campus, the largest hospital redevelopment in BC’s history, is a rare chance to change the lives of patients, families, and caregivers across BC and beyond.
We are seizing this opportunity to expand and improve access to cardiac care across the province, ensuring everyone in BC with heart disease – whether they live in Bella Bella, Abbotsford or Cranbrook – has the same access and level of care. We’ll meet patients where they’re at – offering them the right care, in the right place, at the right time.

- People who are genetically predisposed to heart disease will benefit from an enhanced ability to predict, diagnose, and treat it
- People with advanced heart failure living across BC will have access to efficient and timely treatment at St. Paul’s Hospital
- Youth with heart disease will move seamlessly into adult heart health programs
- When care is delivered remotely, patients will receive the same level of attention through partnerships with care providers, clinics, and hospitals across the province, in direct consultation with St. Paul’s Hospital specialists
- The hospital and adjoining Clinical Support and Research Centre (CSRC) will facilitate collaborative research and patient-centred solutions
We have the clinical and research expertise to make this happen. We are creating professorships, fellowships, and scholarships to attract the brightest young clinicians and researchers from around the world.

In 2027 we will open a new St. Paul’s Hospital that is designed for the future. The clinical and research spaces, the technology and equipment, and – most importantly – the people in place will help BC lead the evolution of health care delivery and research into the next century.

Using leading-edge technology, we’ll weave together cardiology, clinical genetics, and research – all in one location. We’ll be able to identify patients and families with inherited cardiac conditions and ensure they’re treated comprehensively using a multi-disciplinary approach, leveraging the expertise of various subspecialty clinicians and researchers.

Cardiac Surgery Outcomes Research Group
Become a champion for better research in cardiac surgery and anesthesia
Since performing its first open-heart surgery 64 years ago, St. Paul’s Hospital has made incredible strides in heart surgeries.This progress is thanks to continuous post surgical research and finding further ways to improve outcomes.
Your support will help us establish the Cardiac Surgery Outcomes Research Group (CSORG) on the Jim Pattison Medical Campus. In partnership with Cardiac Services BC, we will bring together experts in cardiology, cardiac anesthesia, and pharmacy to solve clinical problems and find better treatments, using a central registry to investigate solutions to bedside problems.
